Export of Corn From Ukraine Decreased by 25%

The State Statistics Service of Ukraine has published data on corn exports for the first half of the trading year 2020/2021. According to information from the State Statistics Service, companies from our country sent 15.9 million tons of grain to foreign markets. This is 25% less than in the first half of the 2019/2020 trading year when exporters sold 21.1 million tons of corn abroad.

China is the main buyer of Ukrainian corn. The PRC accounted for 6 million tons of grain, which is 2.2 times more than purchased in the same period last trading year. The total share of China in Ukrainian corn exports is 38%.

The second position is taken by the countries of the European Union. In total, the EU member states purchased 5 million tons of corn, which is 39% less compared to the 2019/2020 season. The total share of the EU in Ukrainian corn exports is 31%. The third-largest buyer in the share of grain exports was Egypt. Companies from this state purchased 1.7 million tons of corn, which is 43% less than in the same period last year. In percentage terms, the share of exports to Egypt was 11%.

Ukraine can export up to 23.2 tons of corn in the trading year 2020/2021. Thus, the export potential of the grain for the current season has already been used by 68%.
