A Ukrainian grain hub may appear in Oman

The Sultanate of Oman offers Ukraine to create a grain or grain-food hub on its territory for uninterrupted supplies of Ukrainian grain to countries in the Horn of Africa. As reported by a number of mass media, this was emphasized by the special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa, Maksym Subh, in an interview with Ukrinform.

"Oman offered Ukraine to seriously consider the issue of creating a Ukrainian grain or grain-food hub on the territory of the Sultanate. The Omani side also said that in the event of its creation, Ukraine could be absolutely calm about the regular supplies of our grain to the countries of the Horn of Africa," noted Maksym Subkh.

According to him, Ukraine can get access to one of the most modern logistics hubs, which functions, in fact, in the Indian Ocean. In addition, Oman has strong political relations with such countries as Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia.

"All this was discussed in detail," said the special representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa.

According to him, the idea of creating Ukrainian grain hubs is already being developed and has now reached the level of agreement on the technical details of implementation, including the financial component.

"The advantages of Oman are excellent infrastructure, developed fleet, clear and transparent banking system and tax rules. So Oman looks attractive, so it could also be considered by Ukrainian departments as one of the possible locations for a grain hub," the diplomat noted.

It is worth noting that Egypt, for example, after learning about Ukraine's plans, also showed interest in discussing the possibility of creating a similar logistics center on its territory.
