Agricultural Hub to Be Created in Ukraine. UAE Invests in the Project

The United Arab Emirates is investing in the creation of an agricultural hub in Ukraine. The corresponding provision is contained in the Memorandum of Understanding, which was concluded between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Mudabala investment fund. Mudabala is a government organization of the UAE; as of January 2021, it manages assets totaling USD 850 billion.

The message about the signing of the memorandum was published on the "Government portal". As stated in the press service of the President's Office, in addition to the agricultural hub, a trading company will also be established, the main goal of which will be to ensure food security.

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Roman Leshchenko said that this document has become historic, as our country has never cooperated with investment funds of this scale before. Leshchenko drew attention to the fact that Ukraine is ready to become a guarantor of food security.

He also noted that for Ukraine, the visit to the UAE has become a successful marker. According to the head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the government attracts investments from various countries of the world and is doing everything possible to provide business with new opportunities.

The head of the East European direction of Mudabala, Faris Al-Mazrui, also commented on the conclusion of the memorandum. He stressed that Ukraine has tremendous investment prospects, and the execution of the document can significantly help the country to reveal its potential.

The Office of the President said that a sovereign fund for joint investments can also be opened in Ukraine. Participants of the memorandum will be not only government agencies but also 18 private companies.
