«Borscht» has become cheaper in Ukraine

According to the results of the third quarter of the current year, a decrease in consumer prices for all vegetables of the «borscht» set was recorded. According to Yuri Lupenko, director of the National Research Center «Institute of Agrarian Economy», they decreased most noticeably for carrots - to UAH 11/kg, i.e. by a third compared to August. Also, the price of beets dropped by a third and onions by more than a quarter. Only cabbage and potatoes showed a lower dynamics of falling prices — by 17.8% and 14.9%, respectively.

According to Yuriy Lupenko, among other products, the prices of apples, buckwheat and wheat groats, rice, sunflower oil, sour cream and milk fell the most. At the same time, the prices of other food products monitored by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine have increased. The biggest increase in prices occurred for eggs, chicken fillet, butter, sausages, pork and beef.

In the future, until the end of October, the decrease in consumer prices will slow down, but may continue for certain types of cereals, vegetables and fruits. It is also possible to reduce the price of sunflower oil and sugar, because the raw material.
