Ціни на харчі в Україні зростають – прогнози невтішні для споживачів Food prices in Ukraine are rising - the forecasts are disappointing for consumers

In Ukraine, the prices of bread will rise in the near future and the prices of cereals - buckwheat, rice and pasta - will change. And the prices of apples in Ukraine generally reached the maximum in the last 7 years.

Let's analyze the situation in more detail. As for bread, the director of Odesa Bread Plant No. 4, Vitaly Dobrovolsky, said in a comment to the mass media that in mid-October - early November, the price of bread in Odesa will increase by 12-15%. He attributes this to the increase in electricity tariffs and, as a result, the cost of flour. In addition, the managers of enterprises have already been warned about the increase in the cost of electricity. And the cost of flour depends much more on electricity tariffs than the cost of bread. This is due to the fact that flour is produced exclusively with electricity. According to forecasts, the cost of flour will increase by 30%. And since flour makes up about 35-40% of bread, the cost of bakery products will increase by 12-15%.

It should be noted that in Ukraine, the prices of cereals - buckwheat, rice and pasta - traditionally change in the fall. This year, yields of many grains have been lower than expected due to a record drought, so food prices are also rising. Currently, according to analyst reports, shopping at the market can offer significant savings on these staples compared to large supermarket chains.

And if we talk about the mentioned apples, then there is a trend of increasing apple prices in the country. According to EastFruit project analysts, the positive dynamics is primarily due to the seasonal reduction in the supply of autumn varieties, which are traditionally offered cheaper than winter varieties of apples. According to analysts, gardeners are currently offering apples for sale at UAH 15-22/kg ($0.36-0.53/kg), depending on the variety, quality and volume of the batch. And the wholesale prices for apples, which have been established again, in Ukraine are already the highest, at least, in the last 7 years.

It is worth noting that last week in Ukraine there was a trend of increasing sale prices for table beets. Also, for the second month in a row, meat and dairy products have become more expensive in Ukraine. In addition, against the background of constant fluctuations in food prices, the situation on the fish and seafood market is of particular interest.
