EU Expects Better Oilseed Harvest Compared to 2020
The European Commission is optimistic about the volume of the oilseed crop. It is expected that it will be possible to harvest a total of 30.6 million tons from the fields of the EU countries, which is 11% more compared to 2020. However, this result is still 1% lower than the annual average.
They have especially optimistic expectations for the sunflower. It is reported that from the fields of the 27 EU countries, it is planned to harvest 10.8 million tons, which is 25% higher compared to 2020. As for rapeseed, the European Commission expects to harvest 16.9 million tonnes. In 2021, the cultivated area was increased by 3%.
The sown area of soybeans was also increased by 3%. The expected harvest is 2.9 million tonnes that are 8% more than in 2020.
