EU members have agreed on positions regarding the import of Ukrainian agricultural products

The European Commission and Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania have reached an agreement in principle regarding the solution to the problem of limiting the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.

As the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, said, the agreement will include the obligations of the specified countries to abandon the unilateral blocking of food imports from Ukraine. At the same time, the agreement provides that the countries will abandon the complete blockade of the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, which will be replaced by a ban on the supply of five items - wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower and sunflower oil to these countries. Transit of the specified products will be allowed.

The possible term of the specified ban has not been specified. However, as noted by RMF FM, the government official expressed hope that the final version of the agreement will be signed in the coming days.

Let us add that the National Bank of Ukraine reduced the forecast of the export of Ukrainian agricultural products in the second quarter of this year by $200 million due to the actions of Poland, Hungary and other countries, which banned the import of Ukrainian grain and a number of other agricultural products.

"We took this factor into account, and already in the second quarter we reduced the export of our agricultural products by approximately $200 million. Of course, the loss of exports to neighboring countries that introduced the corresponding restrictions will be greater, but we also took into account the possibility of reorientation to other countries, in particular account of the use of the grain corridor," said Serhii Nikolaychuk, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank.
