Japan Cancelled Restrictions on Imports of Ukrainian Poultry

On August 2, the Japanese authorities lifted the ban on the import of poultry products from Ukraine. The restrictions were adopted in connection with the outbreak of pathogenic bird flu that occurred in Ukraine at the end of 2020.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the government is doing everything possible to restore access to markets that have been closed for the export of Ukrainian chicken because of the outbreak of bird flu. Negotiations with Japan went quickly, although they were expected to be lengthy. The Ukrainian side managed to prove that the products meet all quality standards, so exporters can resume deliveries.

The head of the State Food and Consumer Service Vladislava Magaletska said that the department and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a lot of efforts to lift the ban. Also, Ukraine was able to resume the export of chicken to a number of other countries, especially to Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, etc.
