Poland allowed the transit of Ukrainian grain

Poland lifted restrictions on the transit of Ukrainian grain. Transportation will resume on April 21, 2023. This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The agrarian ministries of Ukraine and Poland came to a consensus on the issue of grain transportation. The Polish side allows transit but will introduce special measures to control the transit of products. Agricultural exporters will be informed about these measures in the coming days. At the moment, it is known that a monitoring system will be introduced. Poland will use electronic GPS seals to control the transport of grain in railway wagons.

The EU also contributed to the solution of the conflict situation. The European Commission announced additional measures to support farmers who have suffered due to low prices for Ukrainian grain. The amount of support is 100 million euros. This is the second tranche of support. The first tranche amounted to 56 million euros, of which 30 million were allocated to Poland, and the rest to Romania and Bulgaria. This time, Poland will also receive about 30 million euros.

It is also expected that the European Commission will prepare measures to control the movement of grain from Ukraine to European ports for shipment to Africa. This is necessary so that the grain does not enter the European markets illegally.
