Poland stops the import of grain from Ukraine, and Hungary tightens control over its import

According to the reports of a number of mass media, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Robert Telus, after a meeting with his Ukrainian colleague, Mykola Solsky, said that the Ukrainian side proposed to temporarily stop the export of grain to Poland. According to the minister, the parties decided to make such a decision, because currently there is no question of the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland, it is sold on the Polish market at reduced prices.

Mykola Solsky, in turn, said that Ukraine will refrain from exporting wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower to Poland until the new season. Agreed that the Ministers will continue to be in contact to resolve the matter finally. During the next meeting, they plan to develop procedures regarding export restrictions and discuss the issue of grain transit from Ukraine through Poland.

In turn, Hungary is strengthening control over the import of grain coming from Ukraine, in addition, it took the initiative to restore customs duties and quantitative restrictions on the import of oil and grain crops.

"Our country is introducing new measures and will even more strictly control the Ukrainian grain coming from Ukraine on the road of solidarity, so that it can really reach the countries of destination," said the Minister of Agriculture of Hungary, Istvan Nagy.

He added that Ukrainian agriculture has begun to export large quantities of poultry, eggs and honey to the European market, which is displacing Hungarian products from its traditional markets and reducing farmers' selling prices below the cost of production.
