Poland will increase subsidies for farmers at the expense of profits from Ukrainian grain

The Polish government is preparing a decree on subsidies for farmers who grow cereals. For this, the funds that Poland received by increasing profits from Ukrainian grain will be used. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture of the republic Henryk Kowalczyk.

The amount of subsidies will vary, depending on the voivodeships where they work. It is expected that the regions that are located on the border with Ukraine will receive the largest payments – the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie voivodeships. There, farmers will be able to receive a subsidy of 250 zlotys (about $57) for every ton of wheat sold. In Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie, Mazowieckie and Podlaskie voivodships, the subsidy will be PLN 200 ($45.5). In other regions of Poland, the subsidy will be approximately 150 złoty ($34).

Small farms that cultivate no more than 50 hectares of agricultural land will be able to receive an allowance. The subsidy will cover 50% of the crop. At the same time, Kowalczyk noted that Poland cannot stop imports from Ukraine, despite the demands of some agrarian associations.
