Romania and Moldova will establish a pontoon crossing for the transportation of Ukrainian grain

Romania and Moldova have proposed another logistical route for transporting Ukrainian grain to European ports. A pontoon crossing will be established at the border of the countries. Irinel Skriosteanu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Romania, spoke about this initiative.

Over the past few months, Romania and Moldova have announced several logistics corridors that have helped create new opportunities for transporting goods from Ukraine. This is especially true for grain and agricultural products. Goods from the agricultural sector are sent to the port of Constanta, which plays an important role in sending goods across the Black Sea.

A pontoon crossing will be established between the settlements of Bumbata (Romania) and Leova (Moldova) across the Prut River. Until 1944, there was a full-fledged bridge in this place. However, during the Second World War, Soviet troops destroyed the bridge, after which the issue of restoring the object was not raised.
