Sunflower and soybeans will bring the greatest profits to farmers in 2023

This year, according to experts, the losses of Ukrainian farmers from the cultivation of grain and oil crops are expected to decrease. At the same time, sunflower and soybeans will remain profitable again.

Such information is contained in the study "UKRAINE: The impact of war on the profitability of agricultural production." The study was conducted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine with the support of the Global Fund for Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery in cooperation with the "Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business".

"Profit is expected from soybean cultivation, although it currently occupies only 11% of the total cultivated area. A small profit from the production of sunflower seeds is also predicted," the document says.

This situation was caused by the increase in fuel and fertilizer costs, as well as a significant increase in the cost of logistics.

It is noted that in 2022, the cultivation of all types of grain and oil crops was unprofitable.
