The cost of food in Ukraine does not stop growing

According to information constantly published by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, food products continue to be added to the price tags on supermarket shelves. In particular, according to the prices recorded at the end of November this year (compared to November last year), the average increase in food prices was approximately 35%. Eggs showed the greatest growth - they almost doubled in price during the year. The second step of the «rating» is occupied by fruits - they added almost 64% in value. Vegetables are not far behind - they added 63%. At the same time, fish and fish products became more expensive by 45%, and bread and bread products by 32%.

In general, the cost of bread does not stop its gradual growth. In particular, as of December 11, a 650-gram loaf of wheat costs UAH 32.08 on average. This is UAH 0.71 higher than the average monthly price of November (at the level of UAH 31.37). It should be noted that the price of bread exceeds UAH 30 for the third month in a row. As noted in the reports of market analysts, the last time its price decreased was in September, when compared to August it fell by UAH 0.57, i.e. from UAH 29.92 to UAH 29.35.

However, there are also positive opinions about the value of the grocery basket in the country. In particular, according to Svitlana Lytvyn, an expert of the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business, some food products may become cheaper in Ukraine by the end of the year. These are, in particular, chicken eggs, buckwheat and flour.

Against this background, it is worth noting that the Ministry of Economy emphasizes that consumer inflation in Ukraine will not exceed 30% by the end of 2022. This should be facilitated, among other things, by a sharp increase in the import of generators.
