The EU and Ukraine are launching a joint product classification system

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution on making changes to the classification of goods of foreign economic activity for the unification with the European Union of approaches to the classification of goods.

As reported by the Ministry of Finance, the relevant decision should contribute to "equal application by all customs authorities of the rules of classification of goods when making decisions on the classification of goods in accordance with the UKCTZED and decisions on mandatory information on the issues of classification of goods."

Currently, the State Customs Service is preparing to publish the list of valid decisions regarding the classification of goods according to the Combined Nomenclature of the European Union, which are provided for in the relevant acts of the law of the European Union as of the date of adoption of this resolution. This will be done on the condition that such decisions do not contradict the provisions of the International Convention on the Harmonized System of Description and Coding of Goods, and update the database at least once a quarter.

We would like to add that the Government adopted a resolution on amendments to the Procedure for Conducting the Ukrainian Classification of Goods of Foreign Economic Activity, the draft of which was developed by the Ministry of Finance to ensure the implementation of the provisions of EU legal acts in Ukrainian legislation regarding the accounting of approaches to the classification of individual goods in accordance with the EU Combined Nomenclature.
