The European Parliament agreed on duty-free import of Ukrainian goods for another year

The Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament agreed to extend the duty-free import of Ukrainian goods for another year.

As noted by a number of media with reference to the press service of the European Parliament, members of the Committee on International Trade "approved the proposal to extend the suspension of import duties, anti-dumping duties and protective measures on Ukrainian exports to the EU for another year against the background of Russia's aggressive war, which limits Ukraine's ability to trade with the rest of the world."

The suspension of tariffs applies to fruits and vegetables subject to the system of input prices, as well as agricultural products and products of their processing subject to tariff quotas.

It should be noted that the EU is Ukraine's largest trading partner, which, in particular, accounts for 39.5% of Ukrainian trade in 2021.

In turn, the representatives of the UN reported on the willingness of the institution to buy surplus Ukrainian grain from the EU. As the director of the Global Office of the UN World Food Program in Brussels and Berlin, Martin Frick, stated, the WFP is ready to help the European Union get rid of the surplus of Ukrainian grain that is destroying the markets of Eastern Europe, and deliver it to the countries that need it most.

“Getting grain to some of the world's poorest people is critical in this global food crisis. We transport grain from Ukraine across the Black Sea and are ready to work with the European Commission and member states to find a solution," Martin Frick was quoted as saying by the media.
