The government believes that the European Union will not impose restrictions on agricultural products from Ukraine

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olha Stefanishyna emphasized that the Ukrainian government checked the information about the possible introduction of EU protective tariffs on new Ukrainian goods and did not confirm it.

The EU is reportedly set to reinstate tariffs on Ukrainian sugar and egg imports from Friday, using an "emergency brake" to appease farmers who protested across the EU earlier this year, according to media reports.
At the same time, this year EU member states extended the free trade regime with Ukraine until 2025, but introduced reservations in response to farmers' protests. The European Union has planned to reimpose tariffs on Ukrainian poultry, eggs, sugar, oats, corn, honey and cereals (grain kernels) if their quantity exceeds the average level of imports for the period from the beginning of the second half of 2021 to the end of 2023.

On this occasion, Olha Stefanishyna emphasized that the European Union has no plans to introduce new customs duties on Ukrainian goods. According to her, the information about the possible restoration of customs duties on the import of Ukrainian sugar and eggs from June 28 turned out to be false.

It should be noted that on May 13, the Council of the EU extended temporary trade preferences for Ukraine for another year - until June 5, 2025. The EU has provided for an emergency braking mechanism for sensitive goods, in particular honey, cereals, corn, poultry meat, eggs, oats, if imports exceed the established volumes. But, as Olha Stefanishyna assured, no new decisions regarding the return of customs duties on Ukrainian goods are currently planned by the EU.
