The list of products restricted for import to the EU from Ukraine may be expanded

Ukraine may face new restrictions on the import of agricultural products into the EU. Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Romania have applied to the European Commission with a proposal to expand the list of goods that are prohibited from being imported into the EU countries from Ukraine.

In particular, restrictions may apply to ten positions. These are milk and dairy products, eggs, meat, sugar, sunflower oil, flour, honey, sugar and soft fruits. In addition, the heads of the agrarian ministries of these countries ask to extend the ban on imports even after the entry into force of the agreement on the abolition of duties on Ukrainian goods. The document will enter into force in June 2023.

Also, the ministers of agriculture of five countries stressed in a letter that it is necessary to take measures as soon as possible to support farmers who are faced with problems due to lower grain prices. The fall in prices was caused by the appearance of Ukrainian grain on European markets, which turned out to be much cheaper than grain produced in the EU countries.
