The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is not satisfied with the pace of passage of grain trucks across the Bosphorus

The press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine emphasized that Ukrainian ships with grain pass through the Bosphorus very slowly and the March tonnage of transported products amounted to 3.8 million tons. The daily number of vessel passages did not change for the better, remaining at 2.8. In general, based on the results of eight months of operation of the grain corridor, it became known that its March indicators remain at the February level.

At the same time, during the three months of operation of the corridor, the daily number of vessels passing through the Bosphorus fluctuates within less than three. With the fact that the desired number of ships is from six to seven per day. It should be noted that the worst indicator was recorded in January - 2.5.

It should be noted that the extension of the grain corridor made it possible to send more wheat to those countries that need it the most. Among these countries - Sudan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Yemen. In March, Ukraine sent 374,000 tons of wheat to countries in need. This indicator exceeds February data by 120 thousand tons.

Regarding the pace of passage through the Bosphorus, we note that as of the evening of March 30, 89 vessels were awaiting inspection in Turkish territorial waters.

We will remind: "Grain Initiative" is an agreement between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN on the organization of a safe sea corridor for agricultural cargo from Ukraine. It was signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022. According to the document, exports take place from three Ukrainian ports — Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny. The work of the "grain corridor" within the framework of the agreement is regulated by two agreements, which are essentially "mirrors". One of them was signed between Ukraine, the UN and Turkey, the other between the Russian Federation, the UN and Turkey.
