The Pig Population Declined Again. There Are Less Than 6 Million Left

As of November 2021, the pig population in Ukraine continues to decline. There are only 5.98 million pigs left. This was reported by the press service of the Association "Pig Breeders of Ukraine".

The number of pigs in Ukraine decreased by 3.2% or by 200,000 heads compared to November 2020. Experts observe a sharp decrease in the number of livestock among the population. During the year, the number of pigs in private household plots decreased by 9.5%.

A similar trend is observed in agricultural enterprises. At the beginning of 2021, the livestock decreased by 12%, in summer, this figure was 4%, and in November, it was 1.3%. Analysts point out that the regeneration of the pig population in the current market conditions is almost impossible.
