The Volume of Grain Exports from Ukraine to the EU Doubled

In December 2020, the European Parliament recognized the equivalence of Ukrainian grain certification. Thanks to this, deliveries to the EU countries have become easier, which also affected the volumes. The export of grain to the EU from Ukraine has doubled. In particular, from January to September 2021, 1,154 tons of grain were shipped, which is 2.1 times more than in 2020.

The largest share of exports is for wheat and corn. Wheat supplies were minimal until 2021, and this year, they increased to 328 tons. Mostly, Ukrainian wheat was purchased by the Czech Republic, Germany and Lithuania. Corn exports rose 51% to 826 tonnes. The largest volume of corn grain was shipped to Hungary, Germany and Romania.

UCAB analyst Svetlana Lytvyn noted that such volumes may seem insignificant. However, in just 9 months of 2021, Ukrainian producers generated export revenue of $ 2.1 million only thanks to grain supplies to the EU.
