The Work of the "Grain Initiative" is Complicated by the Actions of Russia

The Work of the

The "Grain Initiative" is slower than expected due to the actions of the Russian Federation. The aggressor country deliberately slows down the inspection of ships that go to Ukrainian ports to load grain and agricultural products. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The delays are due to the procedure for checking ships, which is prescribed in the Grain Initiative regulations. Representatives of the aggressor country find formal reasons and slow down the check. Because of this, the unblocked Ukrainian ports operate at only 30% of their capacity.

The blocking of export work led to the formation of a large queue of ships in the Bosporus area. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that there are already more than 150 ships in the queue for the passage of the strait. The delays resulted in Ukraine underexporting 3 million tons of grain.

In connection with these problems, the USPA has introduced an electronic queue for ships that go to Ukrainian ports. Previously, a similar technology was tested for the passage of ships to ports on the Danube. Information about the electronic queue and the registration form has already been published on the USPA website. The department warned that in some cases, the order of loading could be changed (for example, due to the technical unavailability of the ship). Each ship will be notified about the reasons individually.
