Trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU may occur before the end of 2023

By the end of 2023, Ukraine intends to sign an agreement that will ensure the liberalization of trade with the countries of the European Economic Area and simplify the access of goods from Ukrainian manufacturers to the EU markets. This became known from the statement of the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Sviridenko.

The European market is a priority for Ukraine. In 2022, the turnover in this market amounted to 55% of the total turnover of Ukraine. The Ministry of Economy is working to ensure that the European Union provides an opportunity for Ukrainian companies to operate on European markets without additional quotas and tariffs. This will be a significant step to support the Ukrainian economy, operating in the realities of war.

An agreement on trade liberalization in European markets could be signed as early as December 2023. After signing the document, all production in Ukraine will be obliged to work according to EU rules, and the relevant standards will be introduced. This will simplify access for companies from EU countries that want to build their own enterprises in Ukraine.

The document on integration into the internal market of the EU is an intermediate step between the free trade agreement and direct membership in the EU. The conclusion of such a document will provide the same rights for Ukraine and the EU countries in the areas of logistics, telecommunications, energy, customs, standardization, etc.
