Ukraine Prepares to Increase the Volume of Exports of Agricultural Products to Qatar

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced that it plans to increase the volume of supplies of agricultural products to Qatar. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the department.

According to information published by the Ministry of Economy, in 2020, the total trade turnover amounted to USD 139.16 million, which is 70% more than in 2019. Exports increased by 76%, totaling USD 131.6 million.

Minister of Economy Ihor Petrashko and the Ambassador of the State of Qatar discussed the prospects for expanding trade between the countries at the meeting. Both sides believe that increasing the supply of agricultural products is a promising direction for the development of trade relations. In particular, Qatar is interested in increasing the supply of cereals, poultry, and vegetable oils.

Ihor Petrashko said that the previous year was a record for Ukrainian exports to Qatar. Moreover, the head of the Ministry of Economy called 2020 the best year for the entire period of trade relations between the two countries. Petrashko stressed that quarantine restrictions did not affect trade volumes. The Minister of Economy noted that Ukraine retains the status of a reliable trade partner and our country has been entrusted with an important mission – ensuring the food security of the world. Petrashko said that the authorities are doing everything possible to ensure the supply of food to foreign markets.

The ministry noted that agricultural cooperation is one of the most important areas of trade relations with Qatar, and it is planned to make every effort to develop it.
