Ukraine will root out the mess in the agricultural markets

From October of this year, new Hygienic requirements for agro-food markets will come into force in Ukraine. These requirements are approved by the order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. As reported to the State Consumer Service, these requirements apply to agro-food markets, wholesale markets of agricultural products and market complexes of all types, regardless of their subordination and forms of ownership. They establish hygienic requirements for the territory, premises, equipment, commercial and technological equipment, inventory, maintenance of markets, food products and animals intended for the production of food products that are sold on them.

It is already known that market operators are required to obtain an operating permit or register capacity, in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine "On Basic Principles and Requirements for the Safety and Quality of Food Products".

It is also prohibited to operate an agro-food market in the absence of an accredited laboratory. Operators of the specified markets must ensure proper conditions for the work of the accredited laboratory, in particular by making available office premises equipped with heating, electricity supply, ventilation, water supply and drainage.
