Ukrainian farmers have started spring sowing

So far, farmers of the Odesa region have sown 3.5 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops (1.5 thousand hectares of barley and 2 thousand hectares of peas). Taras Vysotskyi, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine , told about this in the television marathon «Edyny Novyny».

Meanwhile, according to him, the inter-agency government working group has approved the humanitarian demining plan. We are talking about the squares of the Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kharkiv regions, which were under temporary occupation. According to the government official, 30-40% of the areas of these territories can be cleared and sown. According to other forecasts, it is about 50-60%. However, a clearer situation from the point of view of the spring sowing campaign will be clear at the end of March, added Taras Vysotskyi.

"We turned to international partners for help in providing us with special equipment - self-propelled demining machines. There is a goal — to have as much time as possible to demine these territories no later than mid-May. So far within the sowing area. Everything depends on the pace of arrival of the appropriate equipment," Taras Vysotsky emphasized.

He also assured that there are no problems with seed material in Ukraine.

"Taking into account the specifics of the geography of seed cultivation, there is currently no shortage of seed material. The development of seed production in our country is concentrated in the south of Zhytomyr Oblast, Cherkasy Oblast, Poltava Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Odesa Oblast. All these regions were under the control of Ukraine, so everyone was able to sow breeding materials there and harvest," noted Taras Vysotskyi.
