Winter crops are decreasing due to export problems

Large Ukrainian agricultural companies are reducing the sown area of winter crops. This happens due to the lack of opportunity to sell own products due to the stoppage of the grain corridor. According to Bloomberg analysts, survival options for Ukrainian farmers are decreasing due to the fact that the economy of their business is deteriorating. After all, they have limited storage space, and this year's harvest is accumulating. At the same time, the alternative shipping corridor along the Danube is expensive and insufficient. In addition, Russian drones are also attacking the ports there. Therefore, the decisions that will be made in the coming weeks regarding the export of wheat, barley and rapeseed from Ukraine will have consequences for the 2024 harvest. At the same time, they will affect both Ukrainian farmers and global supplies of basic food products.

Experts claim that they are already observing a decrease in crops of winter wheat, barley and winter rye, which could lead to a catastrophe. Some Ukrainian agribusinesses are already reducing wheat crops, while other farms will not sow winter rapeseed. Experts add that it is currently impossible to sell any grain, as prices are lower than the cost of production.

Traditionally, Ukraine shipped grain around the world from its deep-water Black Sea ports. Therefore, the USA is currently calling on the whole world to put pressure on the Russian Federation to unblock Ukrainian agricultural exports.
