EU lowers the price of Ukrainian dairy products by 20 percent

Due to the train of negative perception of Ukrainian dairy products in Europe, their prices are discounted. As Mykhailo Pankiv, director of international business development of the Molokiya company, said, European partners buy Ukrainian dairy products, undercutting the price by 20%.

According to him, at the same time, arguments are given regarding the possible quality of products. However, according to the expert, Poland was in the same situation 10 years ago, but the Poles went through this path and were able to reposition themselves. Therefore, Ukraine will also follow this path.

At the same time, the growth of the import of dairy products, in particular cheese, is inevitable. After all, the warehouses of Ukrainian cheese producers remain quite modest, and in such a situation they try to maintain high production volumes. This leads to an increase in the purchase price of raw milk. In such conditions, the cost of production increases significantly, so cheesemakers actually increase prices by 5% every month since the beginning of autumn. Perhaps such a practice would work if there were no opportunities for imports, but no, imports will definitely increase, and then factories will no longer need excess raw materials, even if they become cheaper.

Currently, rapid growth of imports is not observed only because of the blocking of the Polish border. But as soon as this problem is solved, fairly large volumes of Polish cheese and other products will immediately be brought to Ukraine. By the way, the production of cheese in recent months is higher than in the pre-war year 2021, and this is explained only by the fact that imports are still smaller. Therefore, it is not excluded that next year cheesemakers will have to significantly reduce the output of their products.
