The export of Ukrainian products via the sea corridor reached a record high

In February of the current year, the cargo turnover of the ports of Great Odesa this year amounted to 8 million tons, of which 5.2 were the products of Ukrainian farmers. This export figure is a record since the time of the full-scale invasion. Currently, Ukraine is gradually approaching the pre-war export figures through these three ports, and today more than 90% of all agricultural exports go through the ports of Greater Odessa and the Danube ports.

Thus, Ukraine remains one of the main guarantors of food security. Especially regarding grain exports to African and Asian countries. Since the beginning of the operation of the Ukrainian corridor, almost 28 million tons of cargo have been received by 42 countries, of which 19 million tons are grain and oil. Therefore, the Ukrainian Government currently expects to achieve stable export figures at the level of 2021. For this purpose, the expansion of export corridors is planned, in particular through the Danube port cluster, the development of the railway system of border crossings and the opening of new checkpoints. And the ports of Great Odesa remain a key logistics route.

Earlier, in January of the current year, the export of agricultural products took place mainly thanks to sea transportation and amounted to 6.7 million tons. At the same time, only 0.37 million tons of cargo passed through the territory of Poland in transit, which is about 5% of the total volume. At the same time, through the territory of Poland, in 2022, Ukraine exported up to 1 million tons of agricultural products per month. This shows that the statements of Polish agricultural associations about the oversaturation of their market are unfair. For its part, Ukraine is doing everything possible to minimize any possible economic losses of Polish farmers. Also, the Ukrainian side believes that the blockade plays into the hands of Russia, and it is already using it, showing that all is not well between the two countries.
