This year Ukraine exported agricultural products worth almost $23 billion

As of December 25, 2023, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products increased by 7% compared to last year and amounted to $22.9 billion. As reported by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi, the export of grain increased to 43 million tons, while in the same period of the previous year year — 37 million tons. The value of this export was about $8 billion.

At the same time, the government official reminded that Ukraine was able to independently restore exports through the maritime grain corridor after the termination of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. International partners help the Ukrainian military escort cargo in the Black Sea by providing weapons.

It should be noted that as of December 27, in the 2023/2024 marketing year, Ukraine exported 17 million 484 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is almost 1.3 times less than last year. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of December 27, the export of Ukrainian wheat amounted to 7 million 255 thousand tons, which is 1 million 127 thousand tons less than last year. Also, Ukrainian farmers exported 991 thousand tons of barley, and the export of Ukrainian corn amounted to 9 million 097 thousand tons, which is 1.37 times less than last year.

We would like to add that taxes have not been paid on half of the grain exported from Ukraine. These data were announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev. In an interview with Liga.net, he emphasized that some agricultural land in Ukraine will be cultivated, but not according to documents. Due to the imperfect work of customs and law enforcement agencies, according to him, there was a need for a draft law to combat "black" grain. Currently, the SBU proposes to give three months so that farmers can pay a large percentage of the cost of "black" grain to the budget, and withdraw it once.
