Agrarians will receive full compensation for the demining of agricultural land

The Ukrainian government has increased the compensation rate for agricultural producers planning to de-mine agricultural lands from 80% to 100%. From now on, farmers who have tax debts for land payments or debts for the single tax, provided they belong to the IV group of single tax payers, will also be able to participate in the program.

As noted by the Ministry of Economy, this decision will allow the Humanitarian Demining Center to soon announce the first tenders for the procurement of humanitarian demining services for those farmers who have submitted applications and meet the program's conditions. Currently, farmers have submitted a total of 135 applications for demining 3,897 plots with a total area of over 17,252 hectares. Farmers whose lands are located in de-occupied territories, where non-technical examinations have confirmed contamination or the likelihood of contamination with explosive objects, may participate in the compensation program. The designated plots must be located outside a 20-kilometer zone from the frontline or state border.

Additionally, this year alone, over 150,000 hectares of cultivated land that has been surveyed, cleared, or demined by sappers have already been transferred to agrarians. Government officials emphasize that the cleaning and returning of valuable agricultural lands to operation are key tasks for strengthening global food security. Currently, there are 51 certified operators working in Ukraine, and to expedite the land clearance, the government compensates agrarians for demining expenses.
