An agreement on combating sea mines in the Black Sea was signed

Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania signed an agreement on the joint fight against sea mines in the Black Sea, which have threatened shipping since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. As the Minister of Defense of Turkey Yasar Güler noted in this regard, the memorandum provides for the creation of a task force on mine action among the three NATO allies to combat drifting mines.

"We jointly decided to sign a protocol between the three countries with the aim of more effectively combating mine danger in the Black Sea by improving our existing close cooperation and coordination," he emphasized.

We will remind you that Ukraine, the government of Great Britain and a pool of international insurance companies with the participation of the Marsh insurance broker, which is part of the Oliver Vyman company, have created a special, unprecedented insurance mechanism for vessels that will use the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

The aforementioned demining initiative also aims to make the transportation of grain from Ukraine safer. This is important for Ukraine, because in 2023 the country exported 13 million tons of agricultural products through the shipping corridor in the Black Sea, created by it after Russia's withdrawal from the "grain agreement". The ports have received 430 vessels for loading since the corridor was established in August 2023. In addition, Ukraine has created a corridor to transport important goods, especially grain, from its deep-sea ports.
