China Is Still the Leading Importer of Ukrainian Grain

In 2021, Ukraine exported 50.8 million tons of grain. Farmers from our country were able to receive 12.3 billion dollars in revenue for the goods. These figures were announced by the representative of the Institute of Agrarian Economics Bohdan Dukhnitsky.

In 2021, export indicators increased for many groups of grains. For example, wheat exports amounted to 20.1 million tons, up 11% compared to 2020. As for barley, Ukrainian farmers exported 5.7 million tons of this crop to world markets. This is 600 thousand tons more than in 2020. However, for some crops, export volumes have decreased. Corn exports decreased by 12% compared to 2020, and amounted to 24.7 million tons.

The main consumer of Ukrainian grains is China, which has strengthened its leading position in 2021. The share of China's exports was 20.7%. There is also a slight increase compared to 2020 (19.7%) here. Egypt ranks second in terms of consumption of Ukrainian grains with an export share of 11.2%. Turkey, which is in 3rd place, also significantly increased exports.
