Egypt held a tender for corn for the first time in history

Egypt held the first tender for the purchase of corn in its history. This became known from the statement of the Egyptian Supply Department (GASC). This decision was made in connection with the need for an urgent replenishment of feed grain stocks, with which Egypt had problems.

According to the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade of Egypt, the tender was held for the needs of poultry farming. This was necessary to provide the industry with enough food for the production of animal feed. The tender was financed by the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation. A prerequisite was the date of shipment no later than February 25th.

Egypt has already announced the winner of the first ever tender for corn. The winner was Ameropa BV. Egypt will receive corn at a price of $339 per ton.
