From now on demining machines will be repaired and leased in Ukraine

A service center for the repair of demining machines has started operating in Ukraine. Now, equipment manufactured by the Swiss-German company GCS will not need to be taken abroad for repair or maintenance. The company emphasized that the machines can be repaired either directly at the breakdown site with remote support from specialists, or at the service center in Kyiv.

Currently, GCS has already deployed 66 multi-purpose platforms in Ukraine, each of which is capable of demining up to 12,000 square meters per day. The opening of the service center will reduce the repair time of these platforms by several weeks.

In addition, from now on, mine action operators can rent a demining machine. Two equipment manufacturers are systematically offering demining machines for temporary use. In particular, the same company, GCS Ukraine, launched such a service. The first agreement was signed with the international operator Danish Church Aid, which leased a heavy demining machine GCS-200. Under the agreement, GCS Ukraine will train Danish Church Aid personnel, provide support during the lease, and provide spare parts. In the future, there is an option to buy the machine. RoverTech also launched the possibility of leasing the "Zmiiy" demining machine, concluding an agreement with one of the Ukrainian banks.

But not only fields need demining, so the company "Nibulon" is preparing for certification in the direction of demining inland waters of Ukraine. In 2023, the company created the first specialized boat for demining inland waters in Ukraine. It was built at the Nibulon shipyard during the war. According to experts of the company, at least 15 such vessels are needed for a full-fledged clearing of water areas in the country. Currently, the company is undergoing certification in three areas of mine action. This will allow demining water areas, neutralizing explosive remnants of war, and informing people about the risks associated with mines. The company says that they have everything necessary to launch mass production of boats of the SESU25 project. They are planning to use them for clearing waterways, which could become the basis of a state demining program.

Currently, safe civilian navigation is a matter of national security and economic development. After all, if it is possible to unblock the Mykolaiv port hub, logistics for agricultural products can become cheaper by $4 per ton. And the transportation of goods along the restored E-40 route (Southern Bug and Dnieper) gives savings of another $3 per ton compared to other routes - road, rail or sea.
