Import Duties on Cattle Will Be Canceled

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy plans to abolish import duties for cattle and ruminants. This was reported in the press service of the department. This move is aimed at stimulating the industry, which is suffering from a significant reduction in the number of cattle and small cattle.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy has calculated that the abolition of import duties will increase budget revenues by 5 times. For 1 hryvnia of import duty per head of cattle, there will be 5 hryvnias of taxes. When importing young animals weighing up to 200 kg, you need to spend 260 days to feed the animal up to 600 kg. Fattening costs farmers 85 UAH per day or 22,000 UAH for the entire period, and taxes are paid from this money. The increase in the number of livestock will significantly increase the flow of funds to the budget.

Over the past 10 years, the number of cattle and ruminants has significantly decreased in Ukraine. The reduction was almost 40%. As of September 2021, there are 2.9 million head of cattle and 1.1 million head of small cattle in our country, although, in 2011, these figures were 4.8 million and 1.8 million, respectively.
