In the current marketing year, Ukraine is preparing to export up to 55 million tons of grain and oil crops

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine announced the forecast for the export of grain and oil crops in the 2024/25 marketing year, according to which the country can export about 55 million tons of grain and oil crops. According to the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi, the potential export of grain is expected at the level of 40-43 million tons. The export of oil crops and their processing products will amount to 17 million tons.

At the same time, Taras Vysotsky noted that during the two years of the full-scale Russian invasion, the share of the European Union in the export of Ukrainian agricultural products increased. If in 2023 it was about 60%, it is currently at the same level. This is evidence of the intensification of trade and interaction with the European Union.

By the way, the Ministry is currently developing mechanisms for transparent and unhindered export. In the process of development of the agricultural sector, it is important to implement changes in accordance with EU norms and standards, for example, to create mechanisms to combat the shadow export of grain and oil crops and to establish clear rules for all market participants. According to the head of the Ministry, that is why it is necessary to create conditions for transparent and unhindered export. Work is currently underway to establish minimum export prices for agricultural products. The Ministry of Agriculture is developing a mechanism that would allow for effective forecasting of the maximum yield of various crops. In addition, amendments to the legislation on the application of the regime of export support during the period of military and state of emergency, which set minimum prices for exports, were adopted. At the same time, it is necessary to determine such a level of prices that will correspond to market prices, but will not stop exports.

In this regard, we should note that, for example, the export of Ukrainian grain in May almost reached 5 million tons. And in general, according to operational data of the State Customs Service, since the beginning of the marketing year, Ukraine exported 46.957 million tons of grain and leguminous crops. At the same time, as of June 5 last year, the total figure of shipments was 45.64 million tons.
