More Than 60% of Ukraine's Barley Exports Go to China

Ukraine and China are negotiating to ease trade conditions for the supply of barley. This was reported by the press service of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection. According to the ministry, the topic of liberalization of export conditions was discussed at a meeting between the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection Vladyslava Magaletska and the Ambassador of China in Ukraine Fan Xianrong.

The PRC is the main consumer of barley from Ukraine. According to the press service of the  SSUFSCP, the Chinese market accounts for 63% of the export of this grain crop. Vladyslava Magaletska said that in 2020, the share of Ukrainian exports to the Chinese market doubled and amounted to 14.5% of the total exports of Ukraine. Most of these goods fell on agricultural products.

The press service of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection informs that representatives of Ukraine and China have agreed to expand cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine. In particular, the list of Ukrainian agricultural companies that will be able to obtain accreditation for the supply of agricultural products to the Chinese market will be increased. In addition, China is considering providing additional accreditations for organizations specializing in the cultivation and export of wheat and legumes.

Also, during the meeting, Vladyslava Magaletska and Fan Xianrong discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the fishing industry. In addition, it is reported that Ukrainian companies specializing in the production of honey and animal feed are interested in entering the Chinese market.
