Rape, sunflower and wheat will be the most profitable for Ukrainian farmers this year

Rape, sunflower and wheat will be the most profitable for Ukrainian farmers this year

According to experts in the agro-industrial sector, the most popular crops in the next season will be rapeseed, sunflower and wheat.

"Rape is the first money in the economy. Culture is complex enough. Not everyone can and knows how to grow it. Not everywhere there are conditions that allow it to be grown. It has a high margin, the market did not change during the war, the EU remained the same. That's why rapeseed. By the way, in the country as a whole, the cultivated area of crops has decreased, we have not even sown 1 million hectares", Olena Neroba, the business development manager of the Maxigrain brokerage company, was quoted by a number of mass media.

In addition to rapeseed, in her opinion, sunflower and high-quality wheat will also be marginal. Although everything is not so simple with wheat - this crop already requires more investment. But the wheat market always has liquidity, so the situation with prices and demand on it is more or less predictable and stable.

In turn, the operations director of GK "G.R. Agro" Artem Rempen believes that by the summer the trade in the oil group — sunflower and soybeans — will be successful, soybeans are also bought with pleasure in Europe. According to Artem, the oil group both now and in the new season is and will be the most profitable for both producers and traders.

It is worth noting that for each individual trader, the classification of "marginal-non-marginal" culture depends on how this or that trader conducts business.

However, it should be added that the fall in the agricultural sector last year coincided with the fall in GDP and amounted to about 30%. Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy, announced this. According to him, the industry suffered enormous losses due to the Russian invasion.

"If we are talking about the sowing campaign, at the moment we cannot use approximately 25% of the areas due to hostilities or temporary occupation of the territories. After de-occupation, it will take a lot of time to demine and clean the territories. What the occupier leaves behind needs at least several months, and even up to a year, to return to production. Another part of the area could not be sown due to unfavorable weather conditions. So, in the spring, we need to cover the deficit of unsown winter crops", said Taras Vysotskyi.
