The Cost of Grain Has Exceeded the Maximum in 10 Years

The cost of grain in the world continues to grow and is already breaking records. This was reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. At the end of 2021, grain prices reached the level of 2012. Grain is trading at 27.2% more than 2020 prices.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the largest increase was recorded in corn prices. The cost of grain increased by 44.1% compared to 2020. As for wheat, it rose in price by 31.3%. The only grain crop that fell in price at the end of 2021 was rice. Its price dropped by 4%.

Experts doubt that the situation will change in 2022. FAO senior economist Abdolreza Abbassian believes that due to the pandemic, high resource prices and increasingly unpredictable conditions, it is difficult to predict the wheat harvest.
