The European Commission will Give 50 million Euros to Ukraine as Grants for Farmers to Buy Land

In July 2021, the law on the land market will come into force in Ukraine. In this regard, the European Commission allocated 50 million euros to Ukrainian farmers for the purchase of land plots. This was announced by the Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katariná Mathernová, within the framework of the “Ukraine 30. Land” forum.

The funds allocated by the European Commission will be used as grants for the purchase of agricultural land by farmers. The grants will be valid for two years.

Katariná Mathernová said that the goal of the European Commission is to provide support to small businesses in Ukraine in the agricultural sector. The Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations hopes that this step will help small agricultural companies to buy out agricultural land, and thus ensure the development of business in this industry.

Also within the framework of the forum “Ukraine 30. Land”, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed law No. 2194 on “Deregulation of land relations”, which is also called the “Land Constitution”. This law will completely change the land management system in Ukraine and simplify many procedures related to the registration and division of land plots.
