The Government expects that farmers will be able to sow more than 13 million hectares of land

According to the Government's calculations, Ukrainian farmers will be able to sow more than 13 million hectares of land this year. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmygal, this will satisfy the domestic needs of the market and leave an opportunity for export.

"We continue to help the agricultural sector. Despite all the difficulties, more than 10 million hectares have already been sown. In total, we expect to sow more than 13 million this year. This fully satisfies the domestic demand of our market and leaves considerable space for exports and, accordingly, to support the economy. We are attracting funds, equipment and technologies so that the process progresses faster," Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

It should be noted that as of May 25, 5.278 million hectares were sown with grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine.

"Over the past week, a total of 585.2 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops were sown, the largest - in the Chernihiv region (94.5 thousand hectares). In general, the Poltava region is the leader in the area of sowing - 626.6 thousand hectares," the Ministry of Agrarian Policy noted.

As a reminder, USDA experts forecast the wheat harvest in Ukraine in the new 2023/24 FY at the level of 16.5 million tons, which is 4.5 million tons less than in the 2022/23 FY. According to the forecast, wheat exports from Ukraine will decrease to 10 million tons (14.5 million tons in the last report). Final stocks will decrease from 3.34 million tons to 1.7 million tons.
