The international system will monitor the Ukrainian grain stolen by the Russians

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Lithuania and Great Britain as part of the fight against the illegal export of Ukrainian grain. The document envisages the implementation of a joint grain inspection system, which should prevent the transshipment of stolen grain through Lithuanian ports.

According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval, the purpose of this document is to create an effective system of control over grain stolen by Russia from the occupied territories of Ukraine. With the help of the "GVS" system, it is planned to monitor the movement of grain and prevent its illegal export.

The system is based on laboratory analysis and comparison of grain samples, which will allow establishing the origin of the grain with regional accuracy. Currently, specialists are completing the creation of a comparative database of grain samples from different regions of Ukraine. This will allow them to be compared with the samples taken from the ships, and the results of the analysis, which confirm that the grain on the ship was stolen from the occupied territories of Ukraine, can be used against the owners and transporters of this grain. However, specific measures - the arrest of the vessel or the imposition of fines - will depend on the country of registration of the vessel, its owner and legislation.

It should be noted that the Russian occupiers are currently continuing the massive theft of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories. From Luhansk region, it is transported by trains to the ports of Iran. In general, according to current estimates, the losses of Ukrainian farmers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion have already exceeded 12 billion US dollars. The biggest losses were caused by the destruction and theft of agricultural machinery. All losses are carefully documented in the International Loss Register. This is done with the aim of further compensation for damages by the aggressor state, because the Ukrainian side insists that Russia should bear full responsibility for the damage caused and compensate all damages.
