The Law on Support of Viticulture and Horticulture Was Signed by the President

Vineyards and horticulturists may receive new government support measures. The corresponding law was adopted on December 17, 2021, and signed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on January 5, 2022.

The main task of this law is to stimulate the development of these areas of agriculture. The law spells out the changes necessary to create legal and economic conditions for developing these types of agriculture. The changes allow for expanding the list of citizens who can buy land from public utilities for horticulture and viticulture.

From 2024, individuals will receive the right to purchase land on which perennial plantations have been planted. However, only farmers who have experience in growing such plantings for at least 3 years will be able to buy the land. Also, under the new law, the minimum lease period for land areas is increased to 25 years.

The 2022 budget includes amounts to support agricultural producers. This is financial support for agricultural producers of UAH 4.4 billion,  UAH 180 million on support for farms, as well as UAH 139.4 million for the land reform.
