The list of agricultural crops that can be grown and exported will change in Ukraine
The Ukrainian government is implementing an international practice that will make it possible to grow and export seeds of varieties that were not previously registered in Ukraine. Currently, new types of seeds can already be included in the special list of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. To do this, farmers must submit an application about the plant variety and information from the country that owns the variety.
Entrepreneurs who intend to import seeds of varieties not registered in Ukraine for propagation into Ukraine must submit an application to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. In the corresponding application, it is necessary to confirm information about the variety of the plant. It is also important to confirm consent for seed propagation from the country of the variety owner. The procedure for importing into the territory of Ukraine seeds and planting material of a variety that is not included in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, but contained in the aforementioned List of Plant Varieties, has already been established by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
In addition, Ukraine expanded its participation in global seed variety certification schemes. Currently, domestic seed companies can grow and export seeds of varieties that are not registered in Ukraine, but are included in the list of plant varieties of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Currently, the Ministry of Agricultural Policy has already issued confirmation for twenty European varieties of hybrid corn, information about which is contained in the mentioned list of plant varieties. In the future, the list of crops that are allowed for export is planned to be significantly expanded.
