The Ministry of Agrarian Policy And Grain Market Participants Signed a Memorandum on Grain Export

On July 5, 2021, the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Roman Leshchenko signed a memorandum with the participants of the grain market. The purpose of signing the document was to agree on the maximum volumes of grain exports from Ukraine. The signed document will make it possible to predict the grain export regime and thereby ensure the stability of the market in the country.

According to the minister, the practice of concluding such agreements has existed since 2011. It is used to control the volume of exports. Thus, the optimal amount of cereals and legumes is exported without damaging the domestic market of the country. In addition, it is important to support the food security of Ukraine.

The Minister drew attention to the fact that the parties involved in the agreements clearly adhere to the volumes specified in the document. This gives the market situation stability, the absence of shortages, and price spikes. According to Leshchenko, mutual understanding and a common goal of all participants in the process eliminate the possible risk of imposing export restrictions.

The Minister of Agricultural Policy emphasized that although Ukraine is among the guarantors of world food security, the interests of farmers, the Ministry, and the population are of primary importance.

The memorandum was signed by nine parties, which allows to hope for effective cooperation and additional ways of collaboration, according to Roman Leshchenko.

The memorandum is the key to maintaining a balance between domestic grain consumption and Ukraine's export opportunities for the eleventh year. Among the signatories of the document, there are the Representative Office of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Grain Association, the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine, the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers, etc.
