The National Bank of Ukraine announced the forecast for the grain harvest

The National Bank of Ukraine announced the forecast for the grain harvest in the agricultural season of 2023. It is expected that 46 million tons of products will be collected from the fields. This is 15% less than in 2022. This information was reported by the deputy head of the NBU Serhiy Nikolaychuk.

Nikolaychuk said that the National Bank expects problems related to the trade deficit. This is due both to a decrease in the yield of grain and other crops, and to production difficulties that arise due to the destruction of the energy infrastructure. In addition, the demand for imported goods continues to grow.

As of January 26, 2023, grains and legumes were harvested on an area of 11.1 million hectares with a yield of 4.76 t/ha. WASDE analysts expect that the wheat harvest in Ukraine will be 21 million tons, and exports will reach 13 million tons. Ending reserves will amount to 4.71 million tons.
