The New Year's grocery basket has already risen in price by 35%.
As Oleg Pendzyn, a member of the "Economic Discussion Club", said, this year's New Year's basket will cost Ukrainians much more than a year ago. In general, the New Year's basket became more expensive by 35%, because the price of the entire borscht set increased by an average of 70%, UNIAN notes. It is worth considering that the borscht set contains the main ingredients of the New Year's table. In addition, Ukrainians should expect an increase in the price of the meat group in the coming days. This is due to the approach of the New Year.
Currently, the consumer market is already seeing an increase in prices for cabbage, other vegetables and meat products. In general, the prices of products in Ukraine only increase almost all the time. In November alone, consumer prices rose by almost 2%, and since the beginning of the year, price growth was more than 10%. For some items, the cost of products in Ukraine can already be compared with price tags in countries such as Poland, Germany and France.
In general, during the full-scale war in Ukraine, the prices of some products increased almost twice - by 44%. As reported by Radio Svoboda journalists in their own research, eggs cost UAH 80 per dozen, butter - UAH 100 - 120, and sour milk cheese - UAH 85 per 350 grams. Prices for services, medicines and transport also increased. In general, inflation has been gaining momentum for three years, and this year it increased by 10%. In addition, the cost of bread and bakery products will constantly and significantly increase until the end of the year. This is associated with an increase in the cost of raw materials, energy sources and logistics, because only flour doubled in price during the year. As the first vice-president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers Yury Duchenko stated, the price increase is expected to be approximately 10-15%. Bread prices have been rising before - by 5-10% during the summer and early autumn.
Overall, in the three years of full-scale war, the overall consumer price index rose by 144.2%, a 44.2% increase. Food and non-alcoholic beverages rose in price by 50.8%, transport by 57.1%, and education by 38.4%. Fruits rose in price the most - by 109.8%, oils (except olive) the least - by 6.7%. And regarding the future, experts warn about the movement of Ukraine according to a pessimistic scenario, although the economy still maintains a certain balance.
