The state has promised farmers a new wave of support
According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Vitaliy Koval, last year all farmers who applied for state support received funds - UAH 2.78 billion for 30,342 farmers. All submitted applications – subsidies per hectare of land, maintenance of cows, goats and sheep – were fully paid.
The minister also emphasized that support for small and medium-sized farmers is a priority. The state will also focus on the development of animal husbandry and fish farming, which can become drivers of the agricultural sector. Therefore, UAH 4.73 billion is provided in the budget for supporting farmers this year. The funds will be directed to subsidies for cultivated land, subsidies for the maintenance of cattle, goats and sheep.
It also became known that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a whole the draft law "On Amendments to the Section "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Civil Code of Ukraine Regarding the Peculiarities of Lending and Financial Leasing During Martial Law." The document provides for the freezing of accruals and payments on loans for enterprises from temporarily occupied and frontline territories of Ukraine.
As the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council emphasized on this occasion, this law will be a real salvation for hundreds of farmers who turned out to be true patriots - refused to work under occupation, as a result of which they lost their farms and homes, but are trying to revive their business in the territories under control. From now on, thanks to the adoption of this law, banks will not be able to accrue interest and forcibly recover debts from affected farmers until the end of the war and for another year after that. This will allow farmers to temporarily suspend payments, resume their activities and fulfill their obligations to banks in the future.
