Ukraine banned the import of meat from Iraq, Sweden and the USA

As reported in the Department of State Border Control, restrictions on the import of meat products from Iraq, the USA and Sweden were introduced in Ukraine due to bird flu and bluetongue. The relevant order of the state veterinary inspector prohibits the import of animals susceptible to bluetongue, as well as genetic material obtained from them, from Iraq. The ban on the import of poultry meat from the USA and Sweden is connected with the registration of bird flu there.

In addition, it was forbidden to import hatching bird eggs into Ukraine, as well as products obtained from them from a dangerous part of Sweden. An exception was made for products that were processed by a method that destroys the causative agent of bird flu.

Earlier in January, a similar restriction was imposed on the import of hatching eggs and birds from the American state of Pennsylvania. The State Production and Consumer Service also banned the import of the corresponding products into Ukraine from Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Washington, California, Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Utah, South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, New -York and Idaho.

It should be noted that the bluetongue virus is an infectious disease of a viral nature. Ruminant animals are sensitive to it. It affects cattle, sheep and goats.
